Ascend Learning Trust 'Thrilled and Delighted' with GCSE results

Ascend Learning Trust (formerly Royal Wootton Bassett Academy Trust) says it is "thrilled and delighted" with GCSE results gained at all four of its secondary schools today. 

George Croxford CEO of the Trust said, "we are thrilled and delighted that the students across all our schools have performed so well. The results across the Trust have shown very clearly that if you attend regularly at any of our schools then you will succeed!" 

Tidworth based The Wellington Academy, the only school in the Trust with boarding facilities, are delighted to report the Academy's best ever set of GCSE/BTEC results from an extremely hard-working Yr. 11 cohort and teaching staff. 

Steven Paddock, Headteacher said: "The regional Schools commissioner asked the Ascend Learning Trust (formally Royal Wootton Bassett Academy Trust) to take on this academy in 2020 after a poor set of results in 2019 and to make it the heart of the community and give the people of Tidworth/ Ludgershall an academy to be proud of and I personally feel that the Yr. 11 pupils and our staff have delivered on that request in spades.  I have seen first-hand both parties efforts and tenacity in spite of a highly unusual landscape and I am proud of each and every student and staff member and thank them and wish them the best going into next academic year." 

Swindon based Lawn Manor Academy are thrilled with the GCSE results being released today following the challenges brought to education from the pandemic.  

Headteacher Sandra Muir said: 'One of our I Learn values is resilience and our pupils have shown that in abundance over the last few years.  I am delighted that they have not only come through this challenging time, but they have done so with positive attitudes and a commendable work ethic.  I know that the results today will set our pupils off strongly to their next step in education and to help fulfil their ambitions for the future."  

Also celebrating, Royal Wootton Bassett Academy headteacher Anita Ellis congratulated year 11 students, "This morning has been so lovely, to meet and greet and share the celebrations face to face with our students and their parents. We are exceptionally pleased with the outcomes achieved by our Year 11 students. We are so proud of their efforts and their abilities to manage and take control of a very challenging period of time.  We wish them the best of luck in their choices and we look forward to welcoming those who will be attending Royal Wootton Bassett Sixth Form next week." 

Following a glowing Ofsted report and outstanding A level results last week, Kingsbury Green Academy in Calne isalso celebrating some incredible performances by their pupils in this year's GCSE exams. 

Mr Tudor, Principal, said, "Following such a turbulent two years of disruption caused by the pandemic, I am deeply impressed by the resilience of our pupils.  To navigate that period of uncertainty and perform in the way that they have, shows how incredibly talented KGA pupils truly are."
